Sweden Medical Visa

Sweden Medical Visa is for people who require up to 90 days of medical treatment in the country. You should instead apply for a National Visa for Medical Treatment in Sweden if your treatment or therapy is anticipated to take longer than that, in that case Sweden visa lets you stay there longer.

Prior to your travel to Sweden or any of the Schengen country, patients from third-countries that have not signed a visa-free agreement with Schengen members must apply for this Sweden Schengen Visa.

If you need an escort to travel with you and you have any special requirements, they must also apply for a Sweden tourist Visa (if their country of citizenship does not already have a visa-free arrangement with the Schengen States).

In that scenario, make sure your escort submits all required Swedish Visa documents, such as Sweden visa application form, a trip insurance policy, a reservation for a flight, and evidence of finances. Your escort must describe their relationship with you as a patient in their cover letter.

Only very seldom you are permitted to extend your short-stay Visa, even if you are visiting Sweden for medical reasons. The Schengen authorities may extend your Sweden visa, for instance, if your health is in really poor condition or if you are unable to discontinue the medical treatment you are getting.
